I have always enjoyed new adventures, whether that meant in my career, education, or simply the outdoors.  I have bounced around the idea of being an educator a lot throughout my childhood.  After photographing a wedding during my senior year of high school, I decided to pursue a career in photography.  I attended the University of South Carolina to get my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Studio.  I continued to do photography on the side throughout undergraduate school and for another year and a half after I graduated in 2012.  After being a photographer on the weekends and working in a corporate office during the week, I decided that wasn’t quite enough for me.  I returned to USC to get my Master of Art in Teaching for Art Education.  Working on my masters was a wonderful experience.  While at USC I had the opportunity to teach high school age students at the Young Artist Workshop.  I was also beyond thrilled to have the chance to work with the Arc of South Carolina and the Babcock Center to teach a six-week workshop to adults with special needs.  This is my third year at Gallman Elementary School.  I have loved every minute of it.  I absolutely adore each and every one of my students, and I could not wish for a better group of teachers to be surrounded by! As I continue to teach art, work on my doctorate, and spend time with my fur babies, I have also just finished illustrating my first children’s book that was written by our librarian, Mrs. Laney Cobb.  Keep an eye out for Cricket Loves Color!
